FRESH OFF CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP, TRANSYLVANIA SWIMMING AND DIVING ADDS JEFFERSONVILLE HIGH SCHOOL RECORD-HOLDER ZAK GRIFFIS TO TEAM

Jeffersonville, Ind., April 22, 2014—At Jeffersonville High School, swimming Varsity for four seasons typically leads to two things: championships and scholarship offers.

Both were true for senior Zak Griffis.

Griffis, a four-year letter winner and team captain, is a Sectional champion. After a strong senior season, which saw him place 11th at State in the 400-meter free relay, his hard work was recognized by the Transylvania Pioneers. The team offered him a spot on the roster, which was accepted, and expect Griffis to begin pool training in the Fall.

The Pioneers are fresh off of an Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) championship, where both their team and coaching staff were honored with first-place awards. While their will always be some sort of adjustment from high school to college, Griffis’ change should be a fluid one.

Griffis holds the Hoosier Hills Conference record for fastest time in the 200 and 400-meter Free Relays. He is also the pool record holder for the 400-meter Free Relay, and an Academic All-American.
