Last night the lady Red Devil swimmers and divers won the New Albany Relay meet – the first time for them winning this meet since 2006.  They beat the 6 time defending sectional champions of Floyd Central in the meet.   The first time since 2006 that we have beaten Floyd girls in swimming.

The Red Devils won 8 of the 10 events to dominate the meet from beginning to end.  It was a total team effort as 16 different girls competed on at least one winning relay.

The team was led by 3 relay swims in particular –

The 800 Free Relay with Hallie Dixon, Amelia Blankenbeker, Amber Leininger and Rachel Walker won with a new meet record time.

The 100 Free Relay with Amelia Blankenbeker, Elizabeth Browne, Kali Crace and Jacqueline Richard also won with a new meet record and the 200 Free Relay of Elizabeth Browne, Amelia Blankenbeker, Jacqueline Richard and Rachel Walker also won in meet record time.

The performer of the meet was Amelia Blankenbeker – she swam on three relays, all three relays were victorious and all three set new meet records.

The girls travel to Mt. Vernon this weekend where they will defend last year’s meet championship.
