Boys tennis team falls at semi-state

The 2017 JHS boys tennis team.

The JHS boys tennis team was upended by Jasper on Saturday, dropping their semi-state match-up 3-2 to the Wildcats. Jasper would eventually fall in the state finals to Carmel.

For Jeff, No. 1 singles player Keith Asplund and No. 3 singles player Blake Winchell were the lone winners on the afternoon. Asplund knocked off Dawson Hopf, 7-5, 6-0, while Winchell defeated Bennett Schmitt, 6-2, 6-2.

At No. 2 singles, senior Jerid Inman was beaten by Eli Franks, 6-3, 6-3. The No. 1 doubles tandem of Trey Bottorff and Colby Kayrouz were downed 6-2, 6-0, while the No. 2 team of Adam Crawford and Matthew Monroe were beaten 7-6, 6-0.

Despite the loss, the Red Devils finished 15-3 on the season. Congratulations to the boys team for making it as far as they did.
