News · Girls Track Wins Sectional Championship

Jeffersonville – Ericka Herd, Head Girls Track Coach

The Lady Red Devils Track and Field Team put up a stellar performance as they won the sectional title last night. The last title was obtained in the 2010-11 season. Jeff scored 149 points and Madison Consolidated took second as they were outscored by 30 points. Last season Madison walked away with the sectional title. However, this year Jeff came with a vengeance winning all three relays, stealing first and second in 3 individual events. The mile relay set a new sectional record galloping 4:08.20 previously set in 2001 by Madison who ran 4:09.25. Several field event participants started the meet off putting up great numbers to jump start the meet and help solidify the title. Next Tuesday, the Lady Red Devils will travel to Bloomington North to compete in the Regional meet to see who gets a bid to state. There were 14 total girls who qualified for the regional meet, (9 individual events and 3 relays). The top four per event qualified for Regional’s.
