Multiple Teams · Sykes and Lilly Receive HHC Honors

Jeffersonville, Ind.— After helping lead their team to a 16-9 season record, the Hoosier Hills Con-ference named Jeffersonville High School senior Taylor Sykes to the All-HHC team. Her teammate, freshman Jasmine Lilly, picked up Honorable Mention.

Sykes, who is a guard for the Lady Devils, averaged 14.7 points per game, but attracted perhaps the most attention during JHS’ impressive 21-0 run to knock off New Albany in the Sectional, 44-40. Sykes finished the game with a team-high 18 points, and her defense was instrumental during the come-back.

“Taylor was our senior leader,” head coach Michael Warren said. “She led us in scoring the entire season and did a great job of carrying the scoring load in many big games.”
While Sykes may be more well known for the Lady Devils, Lilly, who is a freshman, caught the eye of many HHC teams. Lilly averaged 5.5 points and 5 rebound per game during her first year of high school basketball. She also lead the team in three-point shooting, and was second in rebounds.

“Jasmine started every game for us and made great improvement throughout the season,” War-ren said. “She was second in scoring and rebounds, as well as leading us in assists and three-point field goal percent. She gave tremendous production from a freshman point guard.”
