The Jeffersonville Red Devils defeated the #7 Southport Cardinals by a score of 65-52. The Red Devils started the game out with a 9 to 2 run, but Southport was able to close the gap within 3 points at the end of the first period. In the second period Jeffersonville extended their lead to as much as 12, but the Cardinals were able to end the half on a 5 to 0 run and trail by only 7. After a hard fought 3rd period the Jeffersonville Red Devils led the Cardinals 48 to 39. Despite shooting under 50% from the free throw line in the 4th period Jeffersonville was able the extend their lead by forcing numerous Cardinal turnovers leading the Devils to win their opening game of the 2016-2017 season. Jeffersonville was led in scoring by 6’2′ junior. guard Bailey Falkenstein with 18 points, 6’6″ junior foward Gerrin Moore with 16 points, 5’10 freshman guard Jacob Jones with 13 points, and 6’2 senior guard Michael Minton with 11 points. The Red Devils will be back in action on December 2nd at Evansville Bosse.
Jeffersonville J.V. was defeated by Southport 44 to 47. The Red Devils were led in scoring by sophomore Taj Sanders with 15 points, sophomore Drew with 8 points, sophomore Victor Daily with 7 points, and freshman Trevis Oglesby chipped in 5 off the bench.
