Both the boys and girls swimming teams were victorious in a Hoosier Hills Conference meet on Nov. 28. The girls downed the Owls 110-63, while the boys picked up a 105-75 victory.
“Seymour is a classy, well-coached team every year,” said Red Devil coach Mike Pepa. “Improving upon our results from last year’s dual meet with them is especially satisfying although there is certainly more work to be done.”
For the girls, the Red Devils were victorious in all but two races. Sydney Sansbury (200 free, 100 fly), Hallie Dixon (200 IM, 100 back) and Rachel Walker (50 free, 500 free) all picked up two wins each. Additionally, the 200 medley and 200 free relay teams were victorious on the evening.
“We had several solid swims from both our newer swimmers and our veteran group,” Pepa said. “Senior Sydney Sansbury posted impressive early season times in her 200 free and 100 fly.”
On the boys’ side, they were led by Kameron Case and Carter Dilger, who won two races a piece. En route to winning every single swimming event, the Red Devils got wins from Kelly Padgett (50 free), Levin Martin (100 free), Jonas Gilliam (100 back) and Matthew Begin (100 breast).
“Although we are a small team in number, we swam big tonight and saw nice improvement over our times this time last year,” Pepa said.
The win was sweet for the boys, who avenged an eight-point dual meet loss to Seymour last year.
The swimming and diving team will be back in action on Tuesday, Dec. 5, when the teams travel to take on Jasper/Castle.
