Jeffersonville Girls Wrestling Finishes 2nd at Jeff Girls Invitational The Jeffersonville Girls Wrestling Team had a strong showing this weekend, finishing 2nd out of nine teams at the their home opening tourney. The Red Devils scored 136 team points, placing behind only Franklin Community, last year’s IHSAA State Runner-Up, who won the event with 233.5 points. Team Standings: 1st – Franklin Community – 233.5 2nd – Jeffersonville – 136 3rd – Castle – 98 4th – Charlestown – 96 5th – Switzerland County – 92.5 6th – Corydon Central – 49 7th – Henryville – 41 8th – North Harrison – 37 9th – New Washington – 7 Jeffersonville crowned one individual champion and had multiple podium finishes across the lineup: 105 lbs – 🥇 Kristin Brown, 1st place 105 lbs – 🏅 Levi Evans, 4th place 110 lbs – 🥈 Justise Clubb-Leon, 2nd place 110 lbs – 🥉 Isabella Stewart, 3rd place 120 lbs – 🥇 Fatima Carrillo, 1st place 120 lbs – 6th Chloe Fischer 125 lbs – 4th Queen Munezero 125 lbs – 6th Lilith Shepherd 130 lbs – 🥈 Abi Lemon, 2nd place 130 lbs – 5th Valeria Ramirez 135 lbs – 🥉 Abril Andes, 3rd place 140 lbs – 🥈 Tarajee Diaz, 2nd place 155 lbs – 5th Alia Griffith 190 lbs – 🥈 Yarely Solis, 2nd place 235 lbs – 🥈 Daytona Tripp, 2nd place Coach Joe Somerville praised the group’s performance against elite competition: “Franklin is one of the best programs in the state, so taking second to them is a great sign for where we are as a team. Our girls wrestled tough and showed we’re ready to compete with the best.” The Lady Red Devils will continue to build momentum as they prepare for upcoming competitions and the push toward the state tournament.
