Parkview Middle School, a key feeder program for Jeffersonville High School wrestling, is entering an exciting new chapter with the addition of two accomplished coaches to its staff. Jeffersonville wrestling is proud to welcome new head coach Deke Brown and alumni assistant coach Colin Corbin, both of whom bring strong athletic backgrounds, leadership, and deep ties to the area wrestling tradition. Deke Brown takes over as head coach after spending last spring as a student teacher in Jeffersonville High School’s Jeff Sports Performance Classess under Coach Danny Struck. Prior to that, Brown was a standout multi-sport athlete at Charlestown High School, excelling in football, wrestling, and baseball. On the mat, he was a conference champion, sectional champion, and semi-state qualifier, and he went on to continue his athletic career playing football at Hanover College. Brown is now beginning his teaching career as a biology teacher at Parkview Middle School, and his energy, relatability, and ability to still wrestle live with athletes make him a natural fit for the program. “I couldn’t be more excited to have Deke leading our Parkview program,” said Jeffersonville head coach Danny Struck. “He’s young, energetic, and connects incredibly well with kids. He understands what it means to be a multi-sport athlete, and he brings real credibility because he can still get on the mat and wrestle with them.” Joining Brown on staff is Jeffersonville High School alumnus Colin Corbin, who returns to help coach the Parkview Red Devils. Corbin was an All-Conference football player at Jeffersonville, before continuing his athletic career at Trine University and Campbellsville University. He is currently finishing his degree in Computer Technologies at Campbellsville while giving back to the program that helped shape him. Corbin was one of the strongest and most accomplished wrestlers Jeffersonville has ever had, benching well over 400 pounds and squatting more than 600 pounds. As a senior, he won nearly every title available, earned Academic All-State honors, and advanced to the ticket round of semi-state. “Having Colin back means a lot,” Struck said. “He represents everything we want our kids to become — tough, strong, disciplined, and successful in the classroom.” “Colin understands the grind, and he understands what it takes to get from Parkview to Jeffersonville and beyond,” Struck continued. “Our middle school athletes will benefit tremendously from learning from someone who has walked that exact path.” The coaching transition follows the retirement of Greg Ferraro, who stepped down after 15 years at the helm of Parkview wrestling. Ferraro played a pivotal role in building the foundation of the program and preparing countless wrestlers for success at Jeffersonville High School. Brown and Corbin are honored to carry on that legacy. “Coach Ferraro set a standard here,” Struck said. “Deke and Colin both understand that this job is about developing student-athletes the right way and helping Parkview wrestlers transition successfully into Jeffersonville High School.” With strong leadership, alumni involvement, and a continued commitment to tradition, Parkview Middle School wrestling remains in excellent hands as it prepares the next generation of Red Devils.
