The Jeffersonville High School Boys' Swim & Dive team delivered a powerhouse performance at the Sectional 18 championships held at Floyd Central this past Saturday. Competing in a crowded field of 16 teams, the Red Devils secured a 3rd place overall finish, fueled by individual titles, school history-making depth, and multiple state-qualifying times. Freshman Miller Seizes Sectional Title Highlighting the afternoon in the lanes was freshman Christian Miller, who proved himself the fastest swimmer in the field by winning the 50-yard freestyle. Miller’s gold-medal performance earned him an automatic bid to the IHSAA State Finals. Miller’s impact extended to the relays, where he joined Isaac Ramirez (Jr.), Dash Leonard (Fr.), and Jaga Pagva (Sr.) to take 3rd place in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Their blistering pace met the state-qualifying standard, ensuring the quartet will represent Jeffersonville on the state’s biggest stage. The same group also locked in a 3rd-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay. Total Dominance on the Diving Boards The Red Devils’ diving contingent put on a masterclass of precision, sweeping the top three spots on the podium to send a trio of athletes to the Diving Regional: T.J. Whitten (Jr.): Sectional Champion (1st Place) Rylan Prichard (Fr.): Runner-up (2nd Place) Micah Cabbell (Sr.): Bronze Medalist (3rd Place) Podium Finishes and Veteran Leadership Senior Jaga Pagva led the team’s endurance efforts, claiming 2nd place in the 200-yard freestyle and 3rd place in the 500-yard freestyle. He was flanked in the 200 free by junior Isaac Ramirez, who took 3rd. Meanwhile, sophomore Carter Glotzbach showcased his technical skill with a 3rd-place finish in the 200-yard Individual Medley (I.M.).
