On Thursday night, the Red Devils faced their second straight top 20 opponent with #14 Jasper. We have seen Jasper a few times this season so we knew how tough they were going to be. At 1 singles Eli Cochrum was able to come out competing well, but in the end we could not stop Jasper's serve and volley gamestyle, and they took the match 6-2, 6-0. At 2 singles, Matthew Lowe was able to keep his opponent on his toes and competed very hard but ultimately fell in a highly contested match 6-3, 7-5. The lone win of the night came from our lone sophomore Teddy Burnette. He started out the match going down 5-2, but was able to really raise his level and took the first set 7-5. In a very close second set, Teddy was able to claw out with a 7-5, 6-4 win. At #1 doubles Ryan Crawford and Javier Gomez had already lost to the Jasper pair twice this season. At the start of the match we were able to serve very well and keep the match close but fell 6-3. In the second set Jasper really raised their level and we had no answer, losing the match 6-3. 6-0. At #2 doubles, seniors Ben Eiten and Quinn Lemon put together another really competetive performance but just fell short, 6-1, 6-4. This loss moves Jeff to 4-7 as a team this year. Our next match will be Friday at 5:30 as we host BNL for our Senior Night.
