The Sectional 15 trophy is back home where it belongs in Jeffersonville. The Red Devils dominated last night’s sectional championship game against rival New Albany, winning 75-58. Junior guard Michael Cooper was instrumental in helping Jeff establish a double-digit through much of the first half. Cooper led all scorers at the break with 11 points, while knocking down several three pointers. Opening the second half with a 13 point lead, New Albany cut the Jeff lead to 10, prompting a Red Devils timeout. From then on, Jeff’s trio of Cooper, Douglas and Singleton were no match for the Dogs, totaling 55 of Jeff’s 75 total points. Jeffersonville was able to empty the bench and play reserves as the final horn sounded. Michael Cooper poured in 24 points, Singleton with 16 points and Douglas added 15 points. Sophomores Anthony Fresh and Elijah Cheeks chipped in 6 points apiece. Jeff will travel to Huntingburg next Saturday, March 9th where they’ll play Evansville Harrison at 4:00PM for a Regional Championship. Jeffersonville 75 New Albany 58
