The United States Tennis Association (USTA) will present the Mark Reilly Tennis Center with their 2024 Outstanding Facility Award this Tuesday, August 27th at the US Open in Queens, NY. This very prestigious award is given in five different categories. The Mark Reilly Tennis Center is named after former Jeffersonville High School tennis coach and teacher who has also been inducted into the Indiana Tennis Hall of Fame. This award is in the Large Public Facilities category. The 12 court facility obviously passes the look test but it was also the programming (youth camps, tourneys) and promotion of tennis in the community that pushed the Mark Reilly Tennis Center past others to win the award. The Mark Reilly Tennis Center is not only one of the finest facilities in the region but also one of the premiere tennis facilities in the nation. "It has been a great blessing to have our school corporation build such an excellent complex with my name on it. To now have the USTA award us an Outstanding Facility of the Year doesn't get much better." said Mark Reilly when asked about receiving the award. He went on to say, "At this point I can only say thank you to GCCS and Mark Laughner for what they have done for our tennis program." "We are very honored to be receiving this award. It would not be possible without the hard work and vision of all of those involved. Greater Clark County Schools superintendent, Mark Laughner, GCCS CFO Laura Hubinger, J. Lake Architecture & Design, CORE Construction, Tennis Technology, current head tennis coach Jerid Inman and Tennis Booster Club members Gary Purlee and Brian Burnette, and most importantly Mr. Mark Reilly. Without Mark Reilly and all of the hard work he put into building our tennis program it would not be possible to have this facility." says Jeffersonville AD, Larry Owens. The award will proudly be displayed at the Mark Reilly Tennis Center.
