The Jeffersonville High School wrestling program has been a college wrestling talent pipeline since 2004, with over 50 wrestlers advancing to collegiate competition. Jeffersonville athletes have competed across the nation in NCAA Divisions I, II, III, NAIA, and JUCO, with both men’s and women’s wrestlers represented. As the college wrestling season begins this weekend, here are some standout Red Devil alumni: • Adonis Boyd (Class of 2020): Adonis began at Bellarmine College and later transferred to the University of the Cumberlands, where he earned a computer science degree. While pursuing a master’s degree, Adonis is ranked #10 at 125 lbs in NAIA wrestling. He was a national qualifier and Academic All-American last year and has big plans with the #4 ranked Patriots. • Carlos Monroy and John Stivers: Carlos, a recent graduate, and John, a freshman, are both at Indiana Tech, ranked #10 in NAIA. Carlos continues with his master’s studies while wrestling, following a strong tradition of Jeffersonville wrestlers at Indiana Tech. John, the fifth Jeffersonville wrestler at Tech, looks to make an impact in his freshman season. They will kick off their seasons at the Patriot Open on November 2. In women’s wrestling: • Natalia Carillo: Now in her third season at Augustana College, Illinois, Natalia is pursuing a medical degree. Her season begins at the Yellow Jacket Open in Rochester, Minnesota, this weekend. • Sian Rogers: A two-sport athlete excelling in both soccer and wrestling, Sian recently finished her freshman soccer season at Manchester University. She will now begin her wrestling season at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. All five of these student-athletes were Academic All-State in high school, embodying both academic and athletic excellence as they pursue their dreams in college.
