Lady Red Devils Make History with First IHSAA Dual Meet Victory

The Jeffersonville Lady Red Devils wrestling team marked a historic night as they competed in their first official IHSAA dual meet on the road at Jennings County. With an electric crowd supporting both teams, the Lady Red Devils took the victory over the Jennings County Panthers in a thrilling 42-35 win. The atmosphere was described as one of the loudest dual meets most had ever experienced, with every athlete rallying behind their teammates. Jeffersonville Coach Somerville praised the Lady Red Devils for their teamwork and relentless effort, noting how the team fought hard throughout the match. The win over Jennings County was a major highlight for the program, showcasing their strength and cohesion as they move forward in this historic season. In the second round, Jeffersonville faced off against another Hoosier Hills Conference rival, Columbus East, in a tight 36-48 match. The Red Devils put up a tough fight but fell just short in an intense dual that kept the crowd on edge. The night’s standout performances included impressive victories by several Lady Red Devils. Kaylea Beauchamp, Aubrey Cummings, Abi Lemon, and Justise Clubb-Leon each notched two wins. Other winners for Jeffersonville included Abril Andres, Envy Diaz, Kristin Brown, Laela Rudicel, Venus Plamp, and Sarah Baloucounne. This Saturday, the Lady Red Devils will host a 7-way tournament at Jeffersonville High School. The home event promises more excitement as Jeffersonville’s girls wrestling team continues to make strides and aims for further success in the program’s first year as an official IHSAA sport.
