15th Annual Rhinehart Run Honors Beloved Jeffersonville Coach, Inspires Wrestlers November 8, Jeffersonville, IN — The 15th annual Rhinehart Run 5K took place last night at Chapel Lake Park in Jeffersonville, bringing together wrestlers, teachers, family, and community members to honor the legacy of Robbie Rhinehart. A beloved figure at Jeffersonville High School, Rhinehart coached wrestling and cross country and taught math. Known for his dedication to Jeffersonville wrestling and his passion for women’s wrestling, Coach Rhinehart’s impact lives on through this yearly event, where proceeds fund a scholarship awarded to a senior wrestler. Originally held at Charlestown State Park, the event was moved to Chapel Lake Park two years ago, marking a new chapter in the tradition. The run, which serves as a rite of passage for Jeffersonville High School wrestlers, saw 19 girls, 50 boys, and four teachers participate this year. The top three male finishers were Ari Santos, Isa Santos, and Elijah Lahrman, while Ava Steffey, Kristin Brown, and Layla Rudisal led the girls’ race. The Rhinehart family traveled from West Virginia to join the event, as they have each year, with Holly and Karen Rhinehart playing an integral role in honoring Robbie’s memory. The family has also generously supported the Jeffersonville wrestling team, helping fund equipment like iPads used for Mattboss software, which assists in match tracking. Event director Shayla Shepherd, who has organized the race for 15 years, ensured the night was both meaningful and memorable. Preceding the run, the team gathered for a prayer, followed by a moving speech from Coach Rhinehart’s mother, Karen, who shared stories about her son’s love for Jeffersonville wrestling. Wrestlers then released balloons bearing their personal goals and dreams, symbolizing their aspirations and connection to Coach Rhinehart’s spirit. “This event is more than a race,” shared Head Coach Danny Struck. “It’s a test of mental toughness and camaraderie that strengthens our team and prepares us for the season ahead.” Today, the season officially begins with the girls hosting a tournament at Jeffersonville High School and the boys engaging in the annual Red and White scrimmage. Action kicks off at 9 a.m., marking the start of another promising wrestling season shaped by the dedication, resilience, and community spirit inspired by Coach Rhinehart.
