Lady Red Devils Shine at Jennings County with Dominant Performances Jennings County, IN – Just one night after hosting Franklin at Jeffersonville, the Lady Red Devils wrestling team showcased their strength and depth at Jennings County, delivering numerous standout performances. Competing against a challenging field of 13 schools, the team walked away with an impressive 19-16 overall record for the night. Undefeated Wrestlers (3-0) • Kristin Brown (100): Dominated the competition with three wins by pin. • Abi Lemon (125): A flawless evening with strong performances across all matches. • Kaylea Beauchamp (135): Secured three pins to solidify her undefeated record. • Aubrey Cummings (145): Continued her stellar season with another undefeated night. Other Notable Wrestlers • Venus (120): Finished 1-1, securing her win by pin. The Lady Red Devils faced stiff competition from schools including Beech Grove, South Dearborn, Bloomington South, Columbus East, Columbus North, Greenwood, Mooresville, Martinsville, Rushville, Seven Oaks Classical School, and Seymour, along with host Jennings County. A Sweet Tradition Lives On The evening wasn’t just about wrestling—it also featured a beloved Jennings County tradition: Grandma Cookies. Made famous by Howard Jones and his late mother-in-law, Kathleen Louise Kiser, these cookies have become a staple of local wrestling events. Grandma Kathleen, as she was affectionately known, brought joy to countless people with her simple but heartfelt philosophy: “Ain’t it amazin’ how good it makes someone feel, the simple act of givin’ ‘em a cookie, letin’ ‘em know someone cares for ‘em!” Though Kathleen has passed, Howard Jones has continued her tradition, sharing cookies and spreading smiles in her memory. Another amazing moment to the night was when sara Bacone saw Snow for the first time. Sarah is a foreign exchange student from Senegal Africa. When we got off the bus, we noticed her staring up at the sky with a smile and she said it’s so cold when Coach Struck asked her if she’d ever seen snow before she said no, not even on television, so we finished the night by teaching her to pack snowballs and throw them at each other, she’s very excited about having her first sledding trip. This experience sticks with our mantra of see the world through wrestling. Looking Ahead After a well-deserved weekend off, the team is gearing up for the Turkey Tussle at Jeffersonville next Wednesday. With momentum on their side and the inspiration of a cherished tradition, the Lady Red Devils are set to continue making waves this season. Stay tuned as Jeffersonville’s rising stars aim for even greater success on the mat!
