Turkey Tussle: Jeffersonville Wrestling Shines at Home Duals and Invitational The Jeffersonville Red Devils wrestling program hosted an exciting day of competition, featuring duals against Corydon and Scottsburg, along with a girls’ invitational that included seven teams. After a challenging City Classic last weekend, the Red Devils bounced back with impressive performances across the board. Boys Varsity Dual Results Jeffersonville dominated in their duals, defeating Corydon 69-6 and Scottsburg 66-18 to improve their season dual record to 2-1. Varsity Standouts (2-0): • 113: Will Honecker • 126: Aiden Stellato • 132: Brandon Chestnut • 138: Elijah Snow • 144: Isa Santos • 150: Quinten Smith • 165: Adrian Carlillo • 175: Xander Hobbs • 190: Xavier Hayes • 215: James Dyer • 285: Ben Land Boys Junior Varsity Highlights The JV team showcased its depth, with several standout performances: • 3-0 Records: Ari Santos, Isiah Gatton (138), Larry Sherman (215). • 2-0 Records: Dylan Grismer (120), Montana Northern (144), Bryan Juarez (157), Malachi Monts (165), Michael Sunkett (165), Julian Alvarez (190), and Elijah Peterson (215). • Notable contributors also included Chandler Cooke (2-1), Cooper Spaulding (1-0), and others who gained valuable mat experience. The boys’ team concluded the day with an overall program record of 74-41, including varsity, JV, and exhibition matches. Girls Wrestling Invitational The Red Devil girls competed against teams from Scottsburg, Corydon, Floyd Central, Bedford North Lawrence, Columbus North, Borden, and New Washington, finishing with a strong 15-7 record. Special Recognition A highlight of the day was a ceremony to honor Chrissy True, Jeffersonville’s two-time girls’ state champion, who is now competing at McKendree College. The event paused at its halfway point for Chrissy to receive her state championship ring, earning a standing ovation from the crowd. Looking Ahead • Varsity Boys: The Red Devils will host the Jeff Duels on December 5-6, facing some of the toughest competition of the season. • Junior Varsity Boys: The JV team will compete at the Oldham County Duels, battling varsity teams in preparation for future varsity action. • Girls: The Red Devil girls will make history at the first-ever Hoosier Hills Conference Girls Wrestling Tournament on December 6th at Jennings County. The Red Devils are gaining momentum and look to continue their success in the coming weeks.
