Jeffersonville Red Devils Shine at 2024 Boys Jeff Classic The Jeffersonville Red Devils delivered a performance to remember at the prestigious 3-state Boys Jeff Classic, showcasing grit, determination, and undeniable talent. Despite competing against powerhouse teams from Indiana, Kentucky, and Missouri, Jeffersonville emerged as a top-10 program, finishing 8th overall with 169.5 points and several standout individual performances. Leading the charge was Ben Land, who proved once again why he’s one of the most dominant heavyweights in the region. Land stormed through the 285-pound bracket, pinning every opponent en route to his second consecutive Jeff Classic championship. His finals victory over Brody Klem of Gibson Southern in just 2:34 was a masterclass in power and precision. Land’s leadership and skill have made him the cornerstone of this Red Devils squad. The team was also anchored by the leadership of its talented seniors, who showed why they’ve been key contributors throughout their careers. Senior Standouts At 126 pounds, Aidan Stellato delivered a determined performance, battling his way to a hard-fought 5th-place finish. Stellato’s ability to secure clutch pins in the consolation rounds earned him 18 team points and demonstrated his unwavering resolve. Isa Santos (144 pounds) showcased heart and experience, finishing 6th in a deep weight class. His three consecutive pins in the consolation rounds were critical to Jeffersonville’s team score, earning him 19 points. Brandon Chestnut (132 pounds) displayed grit and determination on his way to a 4th-place finish. His thrilling 12-10 quarterfinal win was a highlight of the tournament and exemplified the fight that has defined his wrestling career. Mehki Cooper (157 pounds) also impressed with a strong 4th-place finish. Cooper’s rapid pins in the championship and consolation rounds highlighted his ability to rise to the occasion on the mat. Bright Spots Across the Lineup In addition to the senior leaders, Jeffersonville’s younger athletes showcased the promise of the program’s future: • Tim Wilkins, Will Honacker, and John Steele provided valuable contributions in tough brackets. • Siyour M’ninga (190 pounds) placed 6th, using his strength and skill to score key pins and team points.
