Beauchamp leads the way with her title in route to a top five ladies finish at the gladiator

Jeffersonville Girls Wrestling Places 5th in Tough 24-Team Tournament The Jeffersonville girls wrestling team showcased resilience and determination, finishing 5th out of 24 teams at a highly competitive tournament this past weekend. Competing without Coach Somerville, who was celebrating his daughter’s birthday, the team put on a stellar performance, led by Kaylea Beauchamp’s championship run. Beauchamp retained her undefeated record (6-0) and displayed tremendous poise in the semifinals, overcoming a deficit for the first time this season. She ultimately secured a dominant pin in the finals, adding to her impressive campaign. Sophomore Kristin Brown reached the finals at 100 lbs., highlighting her growth as a wrestler. “It’s exciting to see her competing at this level,” said Coach Danny Struck. “She’ll find herself in the finals a lot more in the future.” Four-sport athlete Abigail Lemon placed 3rd at 126 lbs., showcasing her trademark grit on the mat. “Abi is not only an amazing athlete but also a joy to be around,” Struck remarked. Scarlett McCrae, fresh off her All-State soccer season, earned three wins and demonstrated significant improvement since last year. After going winless last season, she has already tallied 14 wins this year, a testament to her hard work and dedication. Individual Results: • 100 lbs. Kaylea Beauchamp (6-0) – 1st Place, scored 26.0 team points • 185 lbs. Leandra Willis-Southcott (0-4) – Competed with determination • 235 lbs.
