Jeffersonville JV and Varsity B Wrestlers Step Up to Varsity Challenge at Capital City Classic Frankfort, KY – On Monday night, Jeffersonville’s Varsity B and Junior Varsity teams made a bold decision: instead of competing in Indiana’s JV Regionals, they opted to test themselves against varsity competition at the Capital City Classic in Kentucky. The tournament featured 25 varsity teams, providing a tough challenge for Jeffersonville’s developing wrestlers. Despite entering as Varsity B and JV squads, Jeffersonville A (Varsity B) finished 13th place and Jeffersonville B (JV) finished 14th place in the highly competitive field. The tournament champion was Harrison County, Kentucky. Varsity B (Jeffersonville A) Finishes 13th Several Red Devils stood out in the tournament: • Elijah Lahrman (126 lbs.) – 3rd place • Jak Rose (175 lbs.) – 4th place • Larry Sherman (215 lbs.) – 4th place • Other wrestlers earning varsity wins: • Kavion Brooks (113 lbs.) • Michael Sunkett (165 lbs.) • Xavier Hayes (109 lbs.) • Elijah Peterson (285 lbs.) – wrestled heavyweight despite weighing 210 lbs. JV (Jeffersonville B) Places 14th Competing as a third-string JV squad, Jeffersonville B still made a strong showing: • Damian Carr (106 lbs.) – 4th place • Brian Juarez (157 lbs.) – 4th place • Other wrestlers earning varsity wins: • Dylan Grismer • Ethan Bronson • Bryce Treat • Julian Alvarez A Bright Future for Jeffersonville Wrestling With over 20 freshmen and sophomores stepping up to varsity competition, the future looks promising for Jeffersonville wrestling. “We were excited that our junior varsity teams made this decision to step it up and see how they measured up at the varsity level,” said Coach Danny Struck. “This experience is invaluable as they continue to grow in the program.” The next challenge for Jeffersonville’s JV wrestlers will be the Junior Varsity Hoosier Hills Conference Tournament at Jennings County High School on Wednesday night.
