The Jeffersonville Red Devils boys basketball team (20-5) will now advance to the IHSAA Regional hosted by Southridge High School. The game will be played at Huntingburg Memorial Gym in Huntingburg, IN on Saturday March 15th at 7pm. The opponent will be Evansville Harrison (17-5) who advanced after beating Evansville Reitz 68-61 at the Evansville Harrison Sectional. Last season on March 9th, 2024 the two teams hooked up in this very same Regional where the Red Devils came out on top 70-65 and advanced to the IHSAA Semi-State in New Castle, IN. The 8th ranked Red Devils look to repeat that feat as they seek their second consecutive Regional Championship and continue their trek towards the ultimate goal. As a team the Red Devils have the edge entering the game shooting 51% from the field and 42% from 3pt range riding a 14 game winning streak. On the opposing bench will sit the Evansville Harrison Warriors who are shooting 48% as a team from the field and 36% from 3pt land. The Warriors have won 10 of their last 14 games and are winners of their last 6 games. The Warriors are led by head coach Nathan Fleenor who is in his 9th year as the Warriors bench boss. It should also be noted that Pat Graham, former Floyd Central Highlander and Indiana Hoosier teammate of Red Devils boss, Sherrion Wilkerson is an asst coach for the Harrison Warriors. It's no secret the Red Devils are a handful for any opposition they will face and just 16 teams remain in the hunt for a State Championship. The 8th ranked Red Devils are led by the trio of Tre Singleton (18.3 ppg / 7 rpg), P.J. Douglas (12.8 ppg / 5.3 rpg) and Michael Cooper (19.2 ppg / 3.9 rpg). The strong cast of 3 NCAA Division-I signees and a very effective supporting cast made of Terrence Nord, Shawn Boyd, Gilly Polk, Raijon Laird, Caleb Jones, Jacob Wilkerson and Elijah Cheeks make the Red Devils the favorite to win their 2nd consecutive Regional Championship. Combine that with head coach, Sherron Wilkerson and staff pushing all the right buttons in preparation and game management and you have a recipe for huge success.
