Running Red Devils battle Floyd Central and Ballard

Wednesday April 12th, 2023 – Brown & Santos-Moore pace Jeff Track boys, while Phillips, Smith and James continue to set the bar for Jeff Track girls in showdown with Floyd Central and Ballard last night. On the boy’s side, Jeff finished 2nd to Floyd Central 68.50 – 49.50. Ballard tallied 37 points in the contest. Jeremiah Brown continues to excel as one of the fastest sprinters in the state. “JB” won the 100 meter dash in a time of 10.97 seconds. He followed that up by running a leg on the victorious 4 x 100 relay team and turned in another blistering time in the 200 meter dash at 22.11 seconds. Ari Santos-Moore turned in a surprise performance in the 3200 meter run, leading wire to wire with a time of 11:04.65 The girls also turned in a solid 2nd place finish. Jeff tallied 43 points to Floyds 78. Ballard came in 3rd with 36 points. Arielle Phillips turned in personal best times while winning both the 1600 and 800 meter runs. She also ran a leg on the runner up 4 x 400 relay team. Mariah Smith continued her strong campaign with a win in the 100 meter dash and runner up finishes in the 200 and Long Jump. Alaysia James is starting to gain confidence in her hurdling and ran a season best time while in winning the 300 meter hurdle race. The Running Red Devils take to the track again Thursday at New Albany for the New Albany relays and then a select group of sprinters will take their speed on the road to The Sprinters Showcase in Lafayette Friday evening.
