Jeffersonville Varsity Red Devils fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 22-10 loss to Bedford North Lawrence on Thursday. Bedford North Lawrence scored on a home run by Ava Ratliff, a double by Aliza Jewell, and a home run by Kendall Graves in the first inning. Despite the loss, Jeffersonville Varsity Red Devils did collect 12 hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Bedford North Lawrence had 20 hits on the way to victory. Bedford North Lawrence opened up scoring in the first inning. Ratliff hit a solo homer. Jeffersonville Varsity Red Devils scored seven runs in the fifth inning. Jeffersonville Varsity Red Devils batters contributing to the big inning included Emma Eaton, Bethany Clarke, and Ashlyn McClure, all driving in runs in the inning. Bedford North Lawrence scored nine runs in the fifth inning. Annie Waggoner, Jewell, Tori Nikirk, Hayley Davis, and Ratliff all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning. Jewell earned the victory in the circle for Bedford North Lawrence. The hurler lasted four and a third innings, allowing eight hits and four runs while striking out two and walking zero. Sara Williams threw two-thirds of an inning in relief out of the bullpen. Emma Borders toed the rubber for Jeffersonville Varsity Red Devils. The bulldog allowed 11 hits and ten runs over three and a third innings, striking out two and walking zero. Bailey Shafer threw one inning in relief. Jeffersonville Varsity Red Devils socked four home runs on the day. McClure went for the long ball in the fifth inning. Clarke put one out in the fifth inning. Eaton went yard in the fifth inning. Shafer had a four bagger in the third inning. Jeffersonville Varsity Red Devils scattered 12 hits in the game.
