Red Devil Softball defeats New Washington in 5 innings

Jeffersonville Varsity Red Devils jumped out to an early lead over Mustangs and took home an 11-1 victory on Thursday. Jeffersonville Varsity Red Devils scored on a double by Andrea Campbell and a fielder's choice by Destiny Martin in the first inning. Jeffersonville Varsity Red Devils secured the victory thanks to six runs in the second inning. Campbell, Ashlyn McClure, Martin, and Abigayle Hammack each drove in runs during the inning. Jeffersonville Varsity Red Devils put up six runs in the second inning. Jeffersonville Varsity Red Devils big bats were led by Campbell, McClure, Martin, and Hammack, all driving in runs in the frame. Ally Young took the win for Jeffersonville Varsity Red Devils. The ace allowed one hit and one run over five innings, striking out eight. Liberty Griffin took the loss for Mustangs. The righthander lasted one and two-thirds innings, allowing eight hits and nine runs while striking out two and walking zero. Jeffersonville Varsity Red Devils totaled nine hits. Campbell, Aubrey Cannon, and Emma Eaton all had multiple hits for Jeffersonville Varsity Red Devils. Eaton, Cannon, and Campbell all had two hits to lead Jeffersonville Varsity Red Devils. Emily Bottorff led Mustangs with one hit in two at bats.
