Thursday, May 11 Jeffersonville Varsity Red Devils took the lead late in the game in a 10-9 victory over New Albany Varsity Bulldogs on Thursday. The game was tied at eight with Jeffersonville Varsity Red Devils batting in the top of the seventh when Aidan Niemi singled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs. Jeffersonville Varsity Red Devils built a four-run lead in the first inning and then held off New Albany Varsity Bulldogs's charge. New Albany Varsity Bulldogs scored eight runs in the failed comeback on a walk by Gavin Hamilton in the first, a single by Braden Brewer in the first, a single by Gavin Rand in the first, a double by Landon Tiesing in the third, a groundout by Maxwell Alexander in the third, a home run by Landon Gum in the fourth, and a error in the seventh. In the first inning, Jeffersonville Varsity Red Devils got their offense started when Caiden White singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run. In the top of the sixth inning, Jeffersonville Varsity Red Devils tied things up at eight when Jaden Hart hit a solo homer. Brett Denby led the Jeffersonville Varsity Red Devils to victory on the hill. The righty went two innings, allowing one run on one hit, striking out four and walking zero. Quinn Lemon threw two and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen. Cole Singleton started the game for Jeffersonville Varsity Red Devils. The bulldog allowed five hits and seven runs over two and a third innings Chase Loesch started the game for New Albany Varsity Bulldogs. The righty lasted three and two-thirds innings, allowing nine hits and seven runs while striking out five Jeffersonville Varsity Red Devils hit one home run on the day. Hart went for the long ball in the sixth inning. Jeffersonville Varsity Red Devils tallied 12 hits in the game. Hart, White, and Jaret Phillips each had multiple hits for Jeffersonville Varsity Red Devils. White and Hart each collected three hits to lead Jeffersonville Varsity Red Devils.
